American Programme
The School has a strong community in the US, with students in 45 states. We brought our study course to the US in 1987 and have been providing homeopathic education to US students for over 30 years! In North America, completion of our Practitioner Course meets the requirements of the North American Society of Homeopaths and the Council for Homeopathic Certification for taking the CHC examination for Registration. The School of Homeopathy is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Homeopathic Education in North America (ACHENA).
Our course combines the flexibility of home study with the rigorous training needed to become a successful homeopathic practitioner. That’s because we blend in-depth independent work with hands on, face-to-face training through summer schools and a clinical supervision process. Regional study groups also provide community and support to your independent work.
Our flexible approach means that you can begin your study with the program at any time and choose when and where you study and to what level. You can even ‘port’ the course from one country to another; and you have an open invitation to attend classes and clinics at our home base in England. All this adds up to making our course the most in-depth and flexible program available. Read on and see why so many have trained with us.
The programme progresses through four levels (see the courses section of the site for more detail). For those who wish to practice homeopathy we offer our highest certification, the Homeopathy Practitioner Advanced Diploma PDHom (Adv), this course consists of:
Time: 4 Year period (flexible)
Study: Homeopathy Units 1 – 26
Audio recording: 122 presentations
Audio visual recording: memory stick, 258 lectures
Clinical Observation & Practice: 2 x 7 Day Summer School (100 hours) and/or Online Clinic Options
Clinical Supervision: 10 cases with 2 follow-ups each
Medical Science: Anatomy & Physiology and Pathology & Disease
Course Overview
Each year of the course is divided into easy to manage Units, which you study whilst listening to the audio and movie lectures from the School and reading the specially selected books. The recordings bring the best of the classroom teachings to you at home. You get numerous recordings of patient cases with discussions as well as generous amounts of supporting information, examples of student work and model answers. During the course you are guided through the topics by reference to books and supporting explanations, descriptions, and diagrams. You are able to check your progress and reinforce your learning through self-assessment questions and model answers. At the end of each Unit you write up your assessments and then send them off to your personal tutor. All our tutors are highly skilled mentors and experienced professional homeopaths. Most of them studied with us at the School of Homeopathy.
Each course is accompanied by a book list that is essential reading for your study. We offer these books with a discount through The School of Health or you can purchase them from US suppliers such as Minimum Price Homeopathic Books.
Clinical Observation & Practice
You will automatically gain 250 clinical hours throughout your coursework using our integrated movie cases. An additional 100 hours need to be gained through face-to-face events and you are required to attend at least one 7-day UK summer school throughout your training:
SOH 7-day UK clinical workshop = 50 hours (ideally attended year 2-3)
SOH 7-day UK clinical workshop = 50 hours (ideally attended year 3-4)
Year 1 UK students are expected to attend our 2-day UK summer school during year 1 (or year 2 if necessary) - and all students who are able to come are welcome!
You should take one (ideally two or more) 7-day summer schools with us, which ensures that you receive the high standard of training that is needed as part of our programme. These events are hugely motivating and beneficial to study and we see students take leaps forwards following an event. However, if you can only attend one of these, you can gain the remaining 50 hours by either:
Sitting in with a local homeopath:
This would be our preferred alternative as you would receive in-depth and focused clinical experience with someone who is (hopefully) working in a similar way to our teachings and you will have lots of attention. Clinic hours are recorded by receiving attendance certificates/letters.
Or attending other non-SOH local events:
If you do decide to gain the last 50 hours elsewhere, please make sure that the alternative event(s) are at the same standard as the School’s events. These sessions can take the form of clinics, study groups, seminars, workshops, supervised case taking and supervision. The main focus of these sessions is to be on case taking, case analysis, prescribing and case management. Please always ask for a certificate of attendance as you need to send us a copy of this for your records.
Supervised Practice
Our supervision network program means that we take students right through to clinical practice. US students can work with one of our professionally trained supervisors in the US, or you can submit an application to work with someone you choose locally. If you cannot find a suitable local supervisor, then you may contact someone in our network of specially trained distance supervisors, and communicate via email and telephone. We work with you to find the best solution for your individual needs.

Professional Registration
The School of Homeopathy is the only School in the world with routes to recognition in the UK, US, Canada and Australia. In North America, completion of our Practitioner Course meets the requirements of:
The Society of Homeopaths
We are the only School that has Society of Homeopaths recognition for our attendance and distance learning study methods for both UK and international students. This means that, whichever country you reside in, once you have graduated you can register with the Society of Homeopaths.
North American Society of Homeopaths (NASH)
Graduates can join the North American Society of Homeopaths. All international SOH graduates can gain registration with the UK’s Society of Homeopaths. Once you are registered member of the Society of Homeopaths you can apply to the North American Society of Homeopaths via the reciprocal arrangement between the two registers.
Accreditation Commission for Homeopathic Education in North America (ACHENA)
The School of Homeopathy is institutionally accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Homeopathic Education in North America (ACHENA), an independent, non-profit, specialised accrediting agency whose mission is to promote excellence in the education of professional homeopaths. The School has demonstrated that it has met requirements and its curriculum is consistent with ACHENA educational standards. The School's status with ACHENA can be found on the ACHENA website at: http://achena.org/resources/accredited-school-directory/
The Council for Homeopathic Certification
The School’s course has qualified students at the required level to apply for certification through Council for Homeopathic Certification since the 1990’s. Our graduates meet the Council for Homeopathic Certification CHC requirements and prerequisite. From January 2018 US and Canadian students of homeopathy who wish to sit the The Council for Homeopathic Certification (CHC) exam and be listed with Certified Classical Homeopath (CCH) must attend schools/programs that are either a 'candidate for accreditation' or are 'fully accredited' by ACHENA. The School of Homeopathy is fully accredited by ACHENA.
By joining our home study course you are assured of receiving a high standard and quality of education, service and care. Students should note, however, that completion of our program does not confer a license to practice. It is wise to review the official licensure policies of your own state before commencing practice.
